01 Who this policy covers
DVC Express Logistics Private Limited (DVC Express, “DVC”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information to provide courier, cargo and logistics services. This policy covers dvcexpress.in, our customer and branch portals, the DVC Customer app, DVC Branch app and DVC Partner App for pickup and delivery personnel.
It applies to website visitors, customers, senders, receivers, delivery partners and authorized branch or team users. We may receive your shipment details from a business customer, sender, branch or courier even if you do not create a DVC account. A business customer or external courier may also explain its own handling of your information in a separate privacy notice.
02 Information we handle
- Accounts and contact details
- Name, email, mobile number, city, organization, branch, user or partner ID, account permissions and account approval information. Partner onboarding includes a profile photo or selfie. We handle sign-in verification, session and security records; where password sign-in is used, passwords are stored as hashes.
- Shipment and business records
- Sender and receiver names, contact details and addresses; AWB and forwarding numbers; courier and service details; shipment contents or asset identifiers; weight, pieces, booking, billing and invoice information; manifests, runsheets, assignments, reports and support correspondence.
- Pickup, delivery and branch evidence
- Status changes, event dates and times, acting user and branch, pickup or delivery partner identity, location coordinates and location labels when submitted, recipient details, delivery outcomes, exception reasons, uploaded photos and proof-of-delivery (POD) documents.
- Device and service information
- IP address, request and security logs, app version, platform, installation identifier, push notification token, session activity and information needed to troubleshoot requests, uploads and app updates.
Provide only information needed for the shipment or your account. Avoid including unrelated identity documents, financial details or other sensitive material in photographs, notes and uploads. If you submit another person’s details, make sure you are authorized to do so and that they know the details are being provided for logistics services.
03 App permissions
- Camera
- Used to scan shipment barcodes and, when you choose to capture an image, take a profile photo or shipment evidence. The branch web scanner processes the camera view to read a barcode; scanning does not send a continuous camera recording to DVC. Photos you choose to submit are uploaded.
- Photos and files
- Used when you select a photo, POD, spreadsheet or other supported shipment file, or download documents. This does not give DVC routine access to all files or photos on your device.
- Location
- The Partner app requests foreground location and records coordinates when you submit a shipment status, to document where the action took place. The current app does not continuously track your movements in the background. Your device’s location or map service may process coordinates when producing a place label.
- Notifications
- Used to send work and assignment alerts. We associate a push token and installation information with the signed-in account so alerts can be routed to the intended partner. Notifications may contain an AWB or work summary that is visible on your lock screen, depending on your device settings.
You can change permissions in your device or browser settings. Declining a permission may prevent the related function from working; for example, a location-dependent status submission or camera capture. Manual barcode entry is available where shown. We do not use these permissions to collect your contacts, call history or SMS inbox.
04 How we use information
- Create and secure accounts, verify sign-in and review delivery-partner access.
- Book, allocate, transport, track and deliver shipments, including returns and rebooking.
- Record custody and branch movements, provide PODs, generate labels, dockets, reports and billing records, and resolve shipment queries.
- Send relevant service messages through email, app notifications and, where enabled, WhatsApp. Availability depends on the customer’s service arrangements and the communication channel.
- Detect misuse, validate uploads, check files for malware and assess image suitability, maintain audit trails, diagnose faults and deliver app updates.
- Handle complaints, disputes, legal obligations and valid requests from authorities.
Uploaded images may be processed automatically for file safety and content suitability. Partner approval and account administration also involve authorized DVC personnel. Contact us if an upload or access decision appears incorrect.
06 Tracking and shipment documents
Anyone with a valid tracking number may be able to view a public shipment summary, including its status, route, event history and limited shipment information. Keep tracking numbers private if you do not want others to look up that summary. Public tracking is not the private operational audit record.
POD documents and account reports are provided through authorized access. The operational AWB record can include who performed an action, their user or partner ID, branch, time and submitted evidence. Downloaded reports, printed labels, dockets and documents can contain personal information; the person downloading or printing them is responsible for handling their copies securely.
07 Cookies and device storage
Our portals use session and security cookies to keep users signed in, protect requests and recognize authorized access to documents. Browser storage may retain session choices, drafts or other task state. Our web apps may cache application files so the interface can load reliably.
The Partner app uses device-protected storage for session credentials and cached profile information, and keeps an installation identifier for session and notification handling. Temporary photos and files may remain on the device while being prepared or uploaded. Signing out, clearing browser or app data, or uninstalling the app does not delete records already saved on DVC’s servers.
You can manage cookies and storage through browser or device settings. Blocking required cookies or clearing storage may sign you out, remove local drafts or affect app features.
08 Retention and security
We retain information for the purposes described here, taking account of active shipments and accounts, customer agreements, billing and tax records, claims, fraud prevention, security and applicable legal obligations. Different records can have different retention needs. Shipment movement and audit records may need to remain after an account is closed; closing an account does not rewrite a shipment’s history. Backup copies may persist until their normal replacement or deletion.
Safeguards include encrypted connections, access controls, protected session credentials, audit records, file checks and encryption for private document storage. No system can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device, sign out of shared devices and never share a password or sign-in code. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.
09 Your choices and requests
You can ask DVC about the personal information we hold about you, request a correction, raise a privacy complaint, or request deletion of your account and associated personal information. You may also ask to stop optional communications or withdraw a permission or consent where it applies. Some processing is necessary to complete a shipment, operate an account or meet legal obligations.
Request account or data deletion
Email info@dvcexpress.in with the subject “Account or data deletion request”. Include the app or portal name and your registered email, mobile number or partner ID so we can locate the account. You can use this route without signing in.
We may verify your identity and authority before acting. Do not send a password, OTP or unrelated identity documents. We will review the request and explain any information that must be retained, and why. A shipment may also belong to a business customer whose records we need to reconcile before making a change.
Email a deletion requestFor communication preferences, contact us with the affected phone number or email and the type of message. Device settings control push notifications. Necessary account, security or shipment messages may still be needed to provide the service.
10 Children’s privacy
Our account and delivery-partner services are intended for adults and authorized business users, not for children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information through an account without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or information practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Where a change requires additional notice or permission, we will provide it through an appropriate channel.
